The stage is set in the heart of Athens: a gorgeous bar, red high leather stools next to the tall stands, green marble tables in front of dark, leather Chesterfield sofas, in the historic Ralli Gallery. Rhythm and jazz music in the background, with alternating DJs every day, and from glorious May to cozy October, we step outside in the Rallou Manou square, our secret lush green secret garden, with the Russian Church in the foreground, and the National Botanical Garden of Athens in the background.
It would be impossible not to relax after a hard day. Besides good company, but also by yourself, you need a signature cocktail for accompaniment to unwind. It’s only becoming. Trust us with it.
One of the countless legendary stories about the origin behind the name of “cocktails” dates back to the American Revolution. Betsy Flanagan, run an inn with her father in New York in the late 1770s, a popular hangout of the French Military at the time. Next to it there was a chicken coop, owned by an Englishman. The chicken annoyed the clientele, so father and daughter killed them all in one night. Next day Betsy decided to celebrate her victory against the British neighbor. She treated the French soldiers with some tasty mix of drinks, the “Bracers”, which she decorated with feathers from the chicken.
The toast “Vive le cocktail!” passed in history, and those two words combined ushered a new era in the bars worldwide.
